I have been practising as a sexual and relationship psychotherapist for many years, and have experience of a wide range of people and problems. My professional career started in nursing at Guy's Hospital. I then worked as a Family Planning Nurse, where my interest in sexuality and sexual problems developed. I decided to train as a sexual and relationship therapist. Since 1981, I have taught others to become therapists, and have supervised many students, beginning therapists, and experienced colleagues.
Coming from a background in nursing has given me a special understanding of the medical aspects of sexual problems and their management, and an interest in physical methods as well as psychological approaches.
I trained in Family Therapy to give me a wider range of ideas for helping couples to get over problems together. It has also given me an appreciation of family matters and how much they affect sex and relationships. This has been deepened by later training in working with family constellations.
I have also received special training in working with trauma and in online work.

Current particular interests

-Sexual addiction and addictions generally

-All sexual problems, particularly vaginismus and vulvovestibulitis

I am both a psychosexual therapist and a generalist psychotherapist, having trained in the UK and continental Europe.
I am co-founder of the largest NHS psychosexual clinic in Europe (alongside Judi Keshet-Orr) and co-author of the first masters programme in psychosexual therapy in the UK. Until recently I was Consultant Psychotherapist within one of the London teaching hospitals and now hold this position in Hungary where I practice and teach regularly. I have a busy practice in North London and consult to organisations in the UK
and further afield on psychosexual issues.

My current interests include mens issues, working with female and male perpetrators of sexual abuse and sex addictions. I specialise in co-dependent couples.

I offer (in North and Central London) psychosexual therapy to individuals, couples and groups, supervision for psychosexual and couples therapists, training and consultancy on issues related to sexuality, including gender equality, sexual preference, sexual harassment. Some of my clients travel long distance (e.g. Middle East) to see me and I maintain contact between sessions over the internet.

I work in English, German and Spanish and for other languages I co-work with a translator.

Experience
Counselling fellow degree students with problems led me to an involvement in support networks, and in l973, I became a founder member and later director of a North London Samaritan branch. Offering support to people with sexual difficulties progressed to ensuring therapy and treatment was also available. Training in Counselling and Human Sexuality led to working with clients in the voluntary sector, within the NHS and in the private sector. I have been committed to my work in the NHS in a busy general hospital and in various GP practices, and I have built up a thriving private practice in North London and Hertfordshire. I have written papers and articles, tutored and supervised, given lectures, run workshops, worked in the media, but my primary interest and commitment will always be rooted in therapeutic practice with individuals and couples.

Current Particular Interests
My interest has always been focussed first and foremost on my individual clients. Their particular difficulties, problems or dysfunctions which cause distress create the reason for setting up our working relationship. No problem is more or less important than another. However, I have built up a particular interest in working with vaginismus, paraphilias and childhood sexual abuse alongside male and female sexual dysfunctions. I work with many couples who are having relationship difficulties and who are considering separation or divorce. I have a particular interest in working with orthodox and secular communities and with the variety of cultures and sexualities which are reflected in North London and Hertfordshire.

I have been a medical practitioner for 25 years and have for the last 15 years practised sexual and relationship therapy.

After reading medicine at Cambridge, I trained at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, where I remained for six years. I then moved to Africa where I worked both in a conventional hospital and with an International Red Cross scheme.

On my return to Europe, my concern with the frontiers of human condition and in particular, human behaviour and the mind, led to the study of Psychological Medicine and then Sexual Medicine.

I am registered as a psychotherapist and am accredited by the British Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy of which I am a founder member.

Current Interests
Areas of professional interest include maintaining vitality and optimal sexual function in the 50+ age group. I am particularly interested in problems where medical and psychological concerns overlap, helping those with sexual difficulties to lead fulfilling relationships and from working with couples whose relationships are in crisis.

Services Offered

Therapy, general/relationship/sex on a weekly basis.

Male and Female hormonal health care. (Menopause and Andropause)
