Margaret Ramage

Partner Therapy Group

I have been a therapist specialising in sexual and relationship work since 1976, and have experience of a wide range of people and problems. My professional career started in nursing at Guy's Hospital. I then worked as a Family Planning Nurse, where my interest in sexuality and sexual problems developed. I decided to train as a sexual and relationship therapist. Starting in 1981, I have taught others to become therapists, and have supervised many students, beginning therapists, and experienced colleagues.
Coming from a background in nursing gave me a special understanding of the medical/physical aspects of sexual problems and their management, and an interest in physical methods as well as the psychological/emotional side of things.
I trained in Family Therapy to give me a wider range of ideas for helping couples to get over problems together. It has also given me an appreciation of family matters and how much they affect sex and relationships. This has been deepened by later training in working with family constellations.
I have also received special training in working with trauma and in online work, so can offer a range of different ideas and approaches to therapy, finding the method that works best for any person or couple. If I think I can't help. I will do my best to refer on to somebody who can.

I am both a psychosexual therapist and a generalist psychotherapist, having trained in the UK and continental Europe.
I am co-founder of the largest NHS psychosexual clinic in Europe (alongside Judi Keshet-Orr) and co-author of the first masters programme in psychosexual therapy in the UK. Until recently I was Consultant Psychotherapist within one of the London teaching hospitals and now hold this position in Hungary where I practice and teach regularly. My current interests include mens issues, working with female and male perpetrators of sexual abuse and sex addictions. I specialise in co-dependent couples.

I offer (in North and Central London) psychosexual therapy to individuals, couples and groups, supervision for psychosexual and couples therapists, training and consultancy on issues related to sexuality, including gender equality, sexual preference, sexual harassment. Some of my clients travel long distance (e.g. Middle East) to see me and I maintain contact between sessions over the internet.

I work in English, German and Spanish and for other languages I co-work with a translator.
