Sex Problems for Men
Retarded Ejaculation can mean being almost completely unable to come ever, or being able to ejaculate only in certain situations. For example, it may be impossible to ejaculate with a partner but it is possible in masturbation. This would be called "Situational Retarded Ejaculation". Some men need a lot of strong and vigorous stimulation to ejaculate, and penetrative sex simply does not offer the same strength of stimulation. Other men tend to give up too early, partly because they are concerned about the partner's reaction, and also possibly partly because they lose concentration.
- Certain prescribed drugs can affect ejaculation - if this is the case the therapist may suggest you discuss the situation with your doctor.
- If you cannot ejaculate under any circumstances, there might be a physical cause for the problem you should seek medical help.
- The cause may be anxiety, stress at home or at work, or it may be performance anxiety affecting the ability to ejaculate. Sex Therapy would be useful.
- For some men situational retarded ejaculation is normal, and the way forward is to accept the situation and build on the advantages.
- Sometimes the reasons are unconscious and psychotherapy is the sensible route forward.
